Alexey Yemtsov is one of the finest pianists of his generation in Australia, playing with powerful virtuosity, technical precision, and tender lyricism. He has performed in London, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem and toured extensively throughout China, Japan, Russia, Ukraine, Australasia and the United States, including a performance for former US President, Bill Clinton. Born in Ukraine, Alexey commenced piano at age of six and gave his first concerto performance at ten. Winning First Prize and the President’s Special Prize in the Horowitz International Piano Competition just two years later, he went on to win First Prize in the International Prokofiev Competition, and was recorded live for the release of the “Great Pianists of the Twentieth Century” Collection (Polygram Classics). He was a Major Prize Winner of the Pozzoli and UNISA International Piano Competitions in 2004 and 2008 respectively.

Zach Pugh, a music educator at Musago Academy in Launceston, brings passion and expertise to his role. With a love for music from a young age, Zach tailors lessons to suit each student, fostering talent and a lifelong appreciation for music. As an active member of the local music community, he inspires aspiring musicians through innovative teaching and dedication to his aural and theory music training program, Musago.
REGISTRATIONS HAVE NOT YET OPENED FOR 2024
TMTA Southern branch invites all instrumental and vocal students of TMTA members to participate in an afternoon of music making and performances at the 2024 TMTA Music Competition.
A friendly and supportive environment, the TMTA Music Competition is a great opportunity for students to perform to a small audience and share in live performances together. Musician and educator, David Mill AM will provide feedback and adjudicate the awards in various sections on the day.
Students need not have completed an exam to participate in the sections/awards. A copy of the music should be provided for the adjudicator on the day and entry forms must be received prior to the performance day.
Audience entry is $10 per adult (children are free). $20 student participant fee's are to be paid at the door on the day.
Entries close on Wednesday 21st August and must be emailed to Lynette Smith.

David Miller AM piano is internationally recognised as one of Australia's leading chamber musicians and vocal accompanists. He has been appointed as a member of the Order of Australia for his service to music. David has worked for ABC and Musica Viva, and recorded for ArtWorks, ABC Classics, Tall Poppies, and Vox Australis. Up until his recent retirement from full-time teaching, David was the inaugral Chair of Ensemble Studies Unit, with the responsibility for Chamber Music and Collaborative Piano tuition at Sydney Conservatorium of Music. David is highly sought after for lectures and masterclasses on the specialist art of accompaniment. David was the inaugural President of the Accompanists' Guild of NSW and has been a major force in gaining recognition for accompaniment as an independent art form.
